ANNA HERINGER, MARTIN RAUCH A0. | TRAINING CENTRE FOR SUSTAINABILITY
‘Now and Then, How Sustainable was my Sustainability?’
2012: Nearly 30% of the youth in Morocco between the age of 15 to 25 are analphabets. The construction sector is prospering, but lacks models for sustainable construction that are also sensitive to the local cultural identity. Two good reasons to build this Training Centre in a Marrakech suburb, aiming the local youth. Born October 1977, Anna Heringer grew up and still works and lives in Laufen, a small town at the Austrian-Bavarian border, close to Salzburg. Teaching change, this project of hers also brought its own theory in practice by upgrading of a local and natural, but disregarded material, earth, compensating its weaknesses with traditional know-how and modern technologies. The design by German architect Anna Heringer, famous for projects like the Handmade Meti school in Bangladesh, was inspired from two Moroccan archetypes: the rural ksar and the urban medersa.

“ Dear Max,’
Unfortunately the project never got realized, although there is a never ending interest in it - so maybe one day we`ll be lucky! The good thing is, it doesn`t follow any fashion so it won’t be out-dated ;)’
