ROLF BAUCHE & REINHARD CREMER (AERO 1946) | WELLBLECH COLLECTION
A pioneering collection that grew from the frustration that Wellblech or corrugated sheet metal hardly inspired any interesting furniture in its two centuries of existence. The three objects which are on show, a side table, and a table light have to demonstrate the potential of the extremely thin and light material, by focusing on different techniques that can for instance provide it with the necessary strength and stability: “We are not timeless. We won’t save the world. We look in the past, and not just into the future. To us, Bauhaus is just a house. Ten Commands of Good Design are too small in number, for a world that is multi-faceted. We don’t pretend to do more than to be acting in one of that world’s alcoves. With loads of fun and curiosity we combine technical babbittry and a healthy madness. And maybe some of this is to be found in our objects”.
